Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is chasing a rare third Super Bowl victory, but a past defeat still resonates with him. While Mahomes has two Super Bowl MVP awards under his belt, the 31-9 loss to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV remains a vivid memory. In a recent interview, Mahomes readily admitted that the Super Bowl loss to Tampa Bay is the game that still bothers him the most.
In that game, Mahomes threw for 270 yards, but failed to find the end zone and was intercepted twice. Brady, on the other hand, threw for three touchdowns and no interceptions, leading the Buccaneers to a convincing victory. This Sunday, Brady will be in the FOX broadcast booth, while Mahomes and the Chiefs will square off against Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles in a rematch of Super Bowl LVII.
Hurts, a second-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, led the Eagles to Super Bowl LVII two years ago, where they narrowly lost to the Chiefs. This year’s Super Bowl presents a chance for both teams to settle the score. The game is set to kick off at 6:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, with pre-game coverage starting at 1 p.m. ET on FOX. The game will also be streamed for free on Tubi.
