A fatal shootout occurred Wednesday morning near Lockwood, Missouri, involving deputies and a man discovered concealed within a barn. The incident unfolded around 10:30 a.m. when deputies from Barton and Cedar counties responded to a residence following a report of a stolen truck found inside the homeowner's barn. The truck had been reported stolen earlier that day in Barton County.

Upon arrival, law enforcement located an armed individual inside the barn. An exchange of gunfire ensued between the deputies and the suspect, resulting in the suspect's death at the scene. No deputies were injured during the confrontation.

The Western Missouri Sheriff's Critical Incident Investigation Team is currently investigating the circumstances leading up to the deadly shooting. The identities of the deceased man and the deputies involved have not yet been publicly released.
