A workplace stabbing in Muskegon, Michigan, has authorities investigating a potential link to the recent murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Erik Denslow, president of Anderson Express Inc., was attacked during a staff meeting, prompting police to consider a "copycat" motive.
The suspect, 32-year-old Nathan Mahoney, a recent hire at the company, allegedly left the meeting briefly before returning and stabbing Denslow in the side. He then fled the scene but was apprehended by police shortly after. Denslow underwent surgery and is currently in serious but stable condition.
While investigators are still working to determine the exact motive, they are examining Mahoney's social media and electronic devices for clues. The incident has drawn parallels to the December 4th killing of Thompson, who was shot and killed in New York City. The suspect in that case, Luigi Mangione, was recently extradited to New York to face charges.
Anderson Express, which serves the automotive and defense industries, expressed shock over the incident and is providing support to its employees. Denslow joined the company in 2022 and was promoted to president within a year. Mahoney is currently in custody, facing charges of assault with intent to murder and fleeing the scene.
