In a previous Instagram post, Drena De Niro expressed her deep love for her son, describing him as her joy and all that was pure and real in her life. She shared her struggle to cope with his absence.

According to a spokesperson for the Deputy Commissioner, Public Information (DCPI), authorities responded to a 911 call on July 2nd, where Leandro was found unconscious and unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The medical examiner will determine the official cause of death. Currently, it's unclear whether the case is being investigated as an overdose or if there are any suspects.

Drena De Niro is Robert De Niro's eldest child, adopted during his marriage to Diahnne Abbott. The actor recently welcomed his seventh child with girlfriend Tiffany Chen.
