Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell experienced a fall on Tuesday during a Republican luncheon. Emergency medical personnel responded to the incident at McConnell's office following the fall. While a wheelchair was observed being brought into his office, Senator John Thune later confirmed that McConnell was back in his office and doing alright, referring further inquiries to McConnell's staff.

A spokesperson for McConnell clarified that the fall resulted in a minor facial cut and a sprained wrist, adding that McConnell has been medically cleared to continue his scheduled activities. This incident follows previous health concerns for the senator, including a concussion from a fall last year and two instances where he appeared to freeze during press conferences. In one such instance in Covington, Kentucky, in August 2023, McConnell paused for over half a minute while responding to reporters' questions. A similar event occurred a month earlier during a press conference on Capitol Hill.

McConnell, the longest-serving Senate party leader in history, has faced calls for retirement and announced earlier this year that he would be stepping down from his leadership position.
