Former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer is facing new sexual assault accusations from a woman in Arizona stemming from a 2020 encounter. Bauer vehemently denies these claims and has filed a countersuit against the accuser.
According to a USA Today report, the woman alleges that Bauer raped her, caused her pregnancy, and threatened her with a steak knife. This is the fourth such accusation against the former Cy Young Award winner, who currently plays baseball in Japan. The woman, who initially sued Bauer in December, is seeking $3.7 million in damages and a public apology from Bauer to any women he may have harmed.

Bauer's legal team asserts that the 2020 encounter was consensual and that a condom broke during sex. Their countersuit claims the woman demanded $1.6 million for an abortion, a demand Bauer documented with an audio recording. The countersuit further states that Bauer refused to pay but offered support if she chose to have the child. He reportedly paid close to $9,000 for the alleged pregnancy and its subsequent termination. The countersuit alleges the woman fabricated the pregnancy as an extortion attempt, citing the lack of medical records provided.

The woman's allegations include claims that Bauer held a steak knife to her throat, choked her with her hair braids, and physically assaulted her during the alleged encounter while she claimed to be pregnant.
Bauer's agents, Jon Fetterolt and Rachel Luba, released a statement characterizing the woman's accusations as baseless and part of a pattern of extortion attempts. They highlighted inconsistencies in her story, including changing narratives about the alleged pregnancy and subsequent termination. They criticized USA Today for publishing what they called "stale claims" without proper vetting.

These new allegations emerge as Bauer plays baseball in Japan. He was suspended from MLB in 2022 for violating the league's domestic violence and sexual assault policy following similar accusations from a California woman. An arbitrator later reduced the suspension. Bauer was not criminally charged in that case and denied the allegations.
