Unidentified Drones Over New Jersey Spark Concerns and Calls for Action

Created: JANUARY 25, 2025

Ongoing sightings of unidentified drones over military installations and residential areas in New Jersey since mid-November have prompted concern and calls for government action. These mysterious aircraft have also been observed in Connecticut, leading Senator Richard Blumenthal to advocate for their downing if necessary.

Representative Chris Smith (R-N.J.) has publicly questioned the Biden administration's response to the situation, criticizing their inability to determine the drones' origins. During a press conference in Seaside Heights, New Jersey, Smith revealed he directly questioned DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas about the government's failure to track the drones and identify their source. Many of the drones appear to originate from the ocean, further deepening the mystery.

Smith has also reached out to Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin, urging the military to authorize the use of force to bring down one or more of the drones over the ocean, where they can be safely examined. He believes this is the only way to uncover the truth behind their operation.

The Congressman voiced his suspicion that the drones' sophisticated maneuvering suggests the involvement of a major military power. He speculated that they may be deployed by hostile nations like Russia, China, Iran, or North Korea to test U.S. defense capabilities or for more nefarious purposes. Smith emphasized that the Pentagon has confirmed the drones are not American.
