The University of Arizona football program, which hasn't achieved double-digit wins in a season since 2014, received a significant boost with the commitment of five-star edge rusher Elijah Rushing. This marks a pivotal moment for the Wildcats, as Rushing is the highest-rated recruit in program history.

A Tucson native, Rushing selected Arizona over prominent programs like Notre Dame, Tennessee, and Oregon. In a video announcing his decision, he emphasized the importance of representing his hometown and contributing to the community that shaped him.

Rushing's commitment is a major win for head coach Jedd Fisch, who is entering his third season with the Wildcats. After a 1-11 record in Fisch's inaugural season, Arizona improved to 5-7 in 2022. The team's offense showed promise, ranking 20th nationally in yards per game. However, the defense struggled, ranking 125th overall.

Rushing, the No. 8 prospect in the 247 Sports 2024 class, expressed his excitement about joining a program on the rise. He believes in the vision Coach Fisch has laid out and is eager to contribute to building something special in Tucson. He emphasized his desire to be a part of the program's growth and give back to his city.
