Fort Campbell Soldier's Husband Among Two Charged in Fatal Stabbing

Clarksville, Tennessee police have announced charges against two individuals in connection with the tragic death of a Fort Campbell soldier last year. The victim, 23-year-old Private First Class Katia Duenas Aguilar, was found deceased in her Clarksville home in May. An autopsy revealed she suffered a shocking 68 stab wounds to her neck and upper torso.

One of the accused is Aguilar's husband, 40-year-old Reynaldo Salinas Cruz, who is facing charges of tampering with evidence. The other individual charged in the case is 35-year-old Sofia Rodas. Rodas faces more serious charges, including first-degree murder and tampering with evidence.

According to authorities, both Rodas and Cruz were already in custody on unrelated federal charges. They were extradited to Clarksville on Friday and formally served with sealed indictments at the Montgomery County Jail. The Clarksville Police Department emphasized the ongoing nature of the investigation and highlighted the collaborative efforts between local law enforcement and military authorities in pursuing justice in this case.

Originally from Mesquite, Texas, Aguilar enlisted in the Army in 2018 and was stationed at Fort Campbell, which straddles the Tennessee-Kentucky border, the following year. She served as a member of the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division.
