The Los Angeles Dodgers, reigning World Series champions, have landed another elite pitching talent. Sasaki's arrival follows the recent acquisitions of Japanese superstars Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, further solidifying the Dodgers' impressive roster. While Ohtani focused on hitting in 2024, earning his third MVP award, he intends to return to pitching in the upcoming season.

Dodgers president Andrew Friedman had previously identified signing Sasaki as a key objective. The 23-year-old's combination of youth and exceptional skills, including a fastball exceeding 100 mph and a devastating splitter, made him a prime target for multiple MLB teams. After a competitive pursuit, the Dodgers emerged victorious over finalists including the Toronto Blue Jays and San Diego Padres.
