The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's office has determined that Lisa Marie Presley's passing resulted from a small bowel obstruction, a complication stemming from a previous bariatric surgery. The official report lists the cause of death as "sequelae of small bowel obstruction" with "other significant conditions" also noted. Her death has been classified as natural. Presley, the only child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, passed away on January 12, 2023, at the age of 54.

According to the autopsy report, Presley had complained of abdominal discomfort earlier on the day of her death. This complication is a known risk associated with bariatric surgery, a procedure often pursued when other weight-loss strategies prove ineffective or in cases of serious medical conditions, as explained by the Mayo Clinic. Presley was rushed to the hospital on January 12th following a "not breathing" call from her Calabasas residence.

In May, a settlement was reached regarding Lisa Marie's estate between her mother, Priscilla Presley, and her eldest daughter, Riley Keough. Riley was designated as the estate's beneficiary. Priscilla clarified that the legal proceedings were not a lawsuit against her granddaughter but rather a plea for document interpretation following Lisa Marie's passing. The family expressed their desire for privacy to mourn and emphasized their unity.

Tragically, Lisa Marie's son, Benjamin Keough, died by suicide in 2020, leaving Riley as the sole heir. Specifics of the estate settlement remain confidential. Lisa Marie also leaves behind twin daughters, Harper and Finley, whose father, Michael Lockwood, has been granted guardianship. Lisa Marie and Lockwood's divorce was finalized in 2021. Lisa Marie's final resting place is alongside her son and father at Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee.
