Navy Veteran Found Deceased in Michigan River After Disappearing During Family Gathering

A Michigan father of two and Navy veteran has tragically passed away after mysteriously disappearing from a family gathering at a popular resort. Robert Loren Bacon, 52, was last seen alive on December 27th around 7:20 p.m. at the Bavarian Inn Lodge in Frankenmuth, a charming Bavarian-themed town located between Saginaw and Flint. According to his ex-wife, Melissa McLenna, Bacon was on his way back to rejoin his family at the pool area after retrieving something from his car, but he never returned.

After an extensive search involving various law enforcement agencies, search dogs, drones, and dive teams, Bacon's body was recovered from the Cass River near Heritage Park on January 4th. The Frankenmuth Police Department has determined the preliminary cause of death to be drowning, pending a final report from the Saginaw County Medical Examiner's Office. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death is ongoing.

Bacon's family reported him missing on December 30th, three days after he was last seen. His ex-wife expressed her gratitude for the support and prayers received during the search efforts and shared her deep sorrow on social media following the tragic discovery.
